Playing technique. A kind of unblocking which makes squeeze
possible. Usually
used when hand do not have an entry. First, play a top card, to promote
the
opponent's card to be a top card in that suit, then perform squeezing.
NORTH A J A x -- |
||
WEST x x x x -- |
EAST K Q K x -- -- |
|
SOUTH x Q x A -- |
South leads and cashes A first, East can discard a small heart without problem of being squeezed, because South can win with the A and promote the Q, but there is no entry to hand to cash the Q. The proper way is to win with the A to avoid blocking, then play small diamond towards hand's A, now East will be squeezed in both the spade and heart suits.
